Artist Statement

My journey as a photographer is deeply entwined with my personal journey through landscapes both familiar and foreign. Born and raised in the bustling heart of Russia, I spent thirty-five years immersed in its rich cultural tapestry and beautiful landscapes, which fostered a profound connection to the land and its stories. These formative years instilled in me a love for the raw, unfiltered beauty of the natural world—a theme that has become the cornerstone of my artistic expression.

Twelve years ago, I embarked on a new chapter of my life in the United States, settling in the serene landscapes of southeastern Ohio. This transition, while filled with its own challenges, has been a source of immense creative inspiration. The forests of southeastern Ohio, particularly the internationally acclaimed state park, Hocking Hills, have become a sanctuary for me. With its stunning cliffs, captivating waterfalls, and deep, hemlock-shaded gorges, this place is a treasure trove of natural beauty. It echoes the wilderness of my Russian homeland, providing a comforting sense of familiarity amidst the vast expanse of my adopted country. My work is an invitation to viewers to slow down, to engage deeply with their surroundings, and to discover beauty in the most unexpected places. The transition from the urban sprawl of a big, loud city in Russia to the tranquil landscapes of Ohio was not just a change of scenery; it was a transformation of my artistic soul.
